April is Volunteer Appreciation Month -- a big THANK YOU to our volunteers!

The Partnership for a Healthier Alexandria has over 200 members and community partners.  Our work would truly not be possible without all of their leadership, support, and participation.  April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and this month we want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all of our volunteers and partners for ALL that they do. In recognition of Volunteer Appreciation Month, we would like to highlight some of the work that our “Volunteer Stars” have been doing this year!  Click here to learn more about Susan Drachsler and other volunteers of Friends of the Alexandria Mental Health Center and all of their fabulous work.

Art Uniting People - A Celebration of Creativity & Mental Health

This year the Mental Health Anti-Stigma HOPE Campaign will celebrate National Mental Health Month through “Art Uniting People – A Celebration of Creativity and Mental Health." This is an art exhibition dedicated to making a difference.  It provides people whose lives have been affected by mental illness the opportunity to use art as a form of expression in order to engage the Alexandria community in a conversation about mental health issues.  Join us! Consider entering one of your art pieces in the exhibition.  Deadline is Thursday, April 12th, 2012.

Join us for the opening reception on Thursday, May 10th from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the Lee Center, 1108 Jefferson Street, Alexandria, VA to enjoy the art and meet the artists.

Celebrating a Successful 2011!

We had a banner 2011 and wanted to share our successes with you and THANK you for all your support.  This work is only made possible by partners across the community working together towards a healthier Alexandria
