The Alexandria Childhood Obesity Action Network Releases Its Food Study Report: Toward an End to Hunger in Alexandria

The Partnership for a Healthier Alexandria’s Childhood Obesity Action Network (A-COAN) released a report titled ‘Toward an End to Hunger in Alexandria.’  This report was commissioned by A-COAN in collaboration with a variety of Alexandria organizations.

The study that resulted in the report was funded by a grant from Kaiser Permanente, and was conducted by two experts in the field of food hardship.

The study’s purpose was to examine food hardship in the community as well as to identify barriers and solutions to providing more assistance to this population.  The study looked specifically at the emergency food assistance system in Alexandria, individuals’ access to and use of government food assistance programs, and private sector food assistance initiatives.
